What Tenants Can View and Access

This topic describes the differences in feature accessibility and viewing privileges for root tenant and child tenant accounts.

When a root tenant account updates a setting in one of its child accounts, all other child accounts will inherit the updated value for the setting unless they have an existing override in place.

Note

Root tenant accounts can always view child tenant account settings and will receive email notifications about any service changes made by a child tenant account.

Feature access and views by account type

This table describes the visibility and accessibility settings for root tenants and child tenant accounts, as configured by your Megaport sales team. To request changes to the child tenant account settings, contact your Megaport sales team.

Dashboard Your root tenant determines whether a child tenant can view the dashboard. Yes When enabled, both root tenant and child tenant account users can view the dashboard.
Company profile By default, the company profile is visible to the root tenant but does not appear for child tenant accounts. Yes When enabled, both root tenant and child tenant account users can view the company profile. Child tenant account users cannot edit the company profile.
Pricing By default, pricing is visible to the root tenant but does not appear for the child tenant accounts. Any changes to Megaport ONE services made by a child tenant account will not include pricing estimates or details. Yes When enabled for child tenant accounts, both root and child tenant account users can view the pricing details.

When pricing is enabled for child tenant accounts, retail prices are shown.
Billing market The billing market is accessible to root tenants only. No Root tenant accounts can access and modify a billing market. A message informs a child tenant account user that the market cannot be added unless they are logged into a root tenant account.

Note: A change to a billing market (by the root tenant account) affects all of the child tenant accounts as well, including Megaport ONE promotional discounts.

Note: Root tenant account users that have been referred by a Distributor cannot access billing markets or invoices. The Distributor enables the billing markets and acts as the billing agent for all referred root tenants. All invoices go directly to the Distributor account.
Ordering services When configuring a service, child tenants only see locations where the root tenant has enabled a billing market. Yes
Invoice payment Child tenant accounts do not pay bills directly to Megaport ONE. Charges incurred by child tenant accounts are billed by the root tenant account No All invoices go directly to the root tenant account.
Chat support By default, chat support is enabled for the root tenant and turned off for child tenant accounts. Yes When enabled for child tenant accounts, both root tenant and child tenant account users can use chat.
Notifications Notifications are enabled for root tenants and turned off for child tenant accounts. No Root tenants receive notifications they subscribe to. Both root and child tenant account users receive Security and People notifications. For details, see Configuring Notifications.
Theming Child tenants can rebrand the Portal by adding a company logo. No Root tenants customize any further branding (such as color changes and favicons). For details, see Customizing Child Tenant Branding.
